The New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) will present an expanded and forward-looking conference program at Suppliers’ Day 2026, taking place May 19–20 at the Javits Convention Center in New York City. Recognized as the largest ingredients and formulation event in North America, Suppliers’ Day will feature more than 100 hours of education and technical programming aligned with this year’s theme, “Breaking Beauty Boundaries with Science.”

“Innovation in beauty begins with science, and our conference program showcases how scientific discovery is redefining the future of beauty and personal care,” said Anushka Nadkarni, Chair of NYSCC. “The program is designed to support professionals across the entire innovation pipeline—from discovery in the lab to finished product development and market launch.”

New and Featured Programs Reflect Emerging Industry Trends

Several new and expanded educational features will debut at Suppliers’ Day, along with an unprecedented number of brands speaking, including:

  • K-Beauty Immersion & Tour, exploring Korea’s influence on global beauty innovation and formulation trends
  • Biodesigned Care, focused on biotechnology-enabled ingredients and next-generation sourcing and development
  • Sensory Science Workshop, examining how texture, feel, and perception influence product performance and consumer experience
  • Idea Ignition, a new Main Stage program spotlighting emerging concepts
  • IFSCC Presents: Where Cosmetic Science is Going Next, highlighting how innovation is expanding beyond traditional formulation work

Together, these programs reflect the industry’s shift toward science-led innovation, where biotechnology, formulation expertise, and consumer insight converge to deliver high-performance products.

The conference will also bring a strong global and regulatory perspective, with sessions addressing evolving compliance requirements, international market opportunities, advanced scientific research from leading industry organizations including SOCMA, and the return of CACPA’s program on China’s ingredient innovations.

Returning educational favorites include Discover Sustainability, Fragrance: The Invisible Art and World of Chemistry, alongside specialized technical tracks presented by the NYSCC Scientific Committee covering DermaBeauty, Hair & Scalp Care, and Microbiome Science.

Two Main Stage keynote conversations will anchor the program. Day one will feature Supergoop! executives discussing how the brand transformed SPF into a daily skincare essential, while day two will feature a conversation with L’Oréal Groupe on collaboration and advanced research driving global innovation.

Education and discovery will extend across the exhibit floor through curated experiences including The Inspiration Hive, Innovations Theater, INDIE 360° Pavilion, Catalyst Corner, Technical Poster Presentations, and The Formulators’ Tour, as well as a live broadcast of NYSCC’s new podcast, The Science Shaping Beauty.

Suppliers’ Day also continues to invest in future industry talent through expanded student and early-career programming, including the Future Chemists Workshop (expanded to two days), University Row, mentorship programs, and a career fair connecting emerging professionals with industry leaders.

A Must-Attend Week of Beauty Experience

Through expanded partnerships with leading industry organizations, Suppliers’ Day is part of a broader “Week of Beauty in New York City. Programs include SCC CEP courses, NYSCC Industry Awards Night, CEW Connections, and a post-show regulatory forum hosted by the Independent Beauty Association (IBA), reinforcing Suppliers’ Day as a global hub for collaboration and innovation.

With close to 700 exhibitors, the largest exhibit floor in the show’s history, and a comprehensive conference program spanning science, regulation, marketing, and product development, Suppliers’ Day 2026 will provide attendees with a complete view of beauty innovation—from discovery to finished product.

The Richard David Kann (RDK) Melanoma Foundation officially kicked off the season in Palm Beach with the annual Hart of Gold cocktail party hosted at the beautiful home of Michelle and Peter Worth. The intimate evening brought together longtime friends, philanthropists, and dedicated advocates to celebrate generosity, compassion, and a shared commitment to melanoma education and early detection.

Established in 2017 by Nancy and Joel Hart alongside Marianne and Harvey Gold, Hart of Gold has become a cherished annual tradition benefiting the RDK Melanoma Foundation. During the evening, Founder Debbie Schwarzberg presented the Hart of Gold Award to Michelle and Peter Worth in recognition of their generosity, leadership, and gracious hosting of this year’s event.

Hart of Gold served as the perfect launchpad for RDK’s highly anticipated 26th Annual RDK Melanoma Foundation Luncheon and Fashion Show at The Breakers Palm Beach.  The luncheon featured Carolina Herrera’s Spring 2026 collection, presented in the presence of Creative Director Wes Gordon. Runway looks will be accessorized by fine jewelry from Patricia Robalino Designs, adding a touch of sparkle and glamour to the afternoon.

The evening also highlighted the meaningful connection between fashion, wellness, and advocacy. Michelle Worth’s company, SKINSAFE, continues to set the gold standard in clean beauty, with ISDIN (a partner of RDK) earning an exceptional SKINSAFE score—reinforcing its reputation as a trusted, clean sunscreen brand.  ISDIN and Carolina Herrera are both proudly owned by the PUIG family, reflecting a shared commitment to innovation, elegance, and excellence. RDK is thrilled to welcome Carolina Herrera for the second consecutive year as the featured designer for the annual luncheon.

Building on this excitement, RDK and ISDIN are launching SunSMART Summer 2026, a vibrant nationwide campaign bringing sunscreen, education, and creative learning to America’s most beloved summer destinations. Announced on Melanoma Monday, May 4, 2026, across social media and national publications, the campaign kicks off Memorial Day weekend and runs through Labor Day. SunSMART will activate in five key cities—Aspen, Park City, Dallas, Palm Beach, and Nantucket—engaging communities through education and interactive programming led by RDK’s 12 dedicated regional leaders.

From the sparkle of Hart of Gold to the runway at The Breakers and a summer spent spreading awareness coast to coast, RDK’s mission continues to shine brighter than ever—bringing people together, inspiring action, and saving lives.

“Wicked” star Jonathan Bailey has been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2025.

The magazine’s pick was announced on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Bailey takes the mantle from “The Office” and “Jack Ryan” star John Krasinski, who was the 2024 selection.

“It’s a huge honor,” Bailey, 37, told the magazine. “Obviously, I’m incredibly flattered. And it’s completely absurd.”

Bailey had audiences swooning as Prince Fiyero in his 2024 big-screen debut in “Wicked,” the popular movie musical in which he proudly urges fellow students to join him in his shallowness. The second half arrives in theaters Nov. 21.

He dripped with charm as Lord Anthony Bridgerton on Netflix’s “Bridgerton,” and earned a 2024 Emmy nomination for his role in the Showtime series “Fellow Travelers.” Most recently, he starred in “Jurassic World Rebirth,” which came out in July.

Bailey told Fallon that the title was an “honor of a lifetime.”

“I’m sort of thrilled that People magazine have invited someone in — bestowed this honor on someone who can really cherish the value of a sexy man,” he said.

Bailey told People that he’s known he wanted to be an actor since he was 5 years old and his grandmother took him to see a production of the musical “Oliver!” Within two years he had achieved that dream, performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

He’s had plenty of stage credits since then, including starring in Shakespeare’s Richard II in London earlier this year.

Bailey, who has spoken openly about being a gay actor, founded The Shameless Fund, which helps to support LGBTQ+ organizations.

“I know the LGBT sector is under immense threat at the moment,” he said. “So it’s been amazing to meet people who have the expertise and see potential that I could have only dreamed of.”

The first Sexiest Man Alive was Mel Gibson in 1985. Other past recipients include Brad Pitt, George Clooney, John F. Kennedy Jr., David Beckham, Michael B. Jordan, John Legend, Dwayne Johnson, Paul Rudd, Pierce Brosnan and Patrick Dempsey.

Bailey, who will be the cover story in People’s edition coming out Friday, had to stay tight-lipped about the news. But he admitted to the magazine that he couldn’t keep it a complete secret — he shared the news with his dog, Benson, who will also be featured in the magazine.

Beauty industry veteran Elana Drell Szyfer has been named President of CEW, succeeding Carlotta Jacobson, who will take on the Executive Chair position. Drell Szyfer will assume the role in January 2026. She will be the second President in CEW’s 71-year history.

CEW, the premier organization for beauty industry executives, will be led by Drell Szyfer, who for the past 10 years has served on CEW’s Board of Governors. Recently, she was instrumental in building out CEW’s three-year strategic plan — in a consultancy role — that will be instituted in the new year. A deeper focus on professional development, community building, and unique programming will take center stage.

“My time on the Board, on the membership committee, and most recently as a strategy development partner has given me exposure to this strong and mighty team. With the industry evolving at such a rapid pace, and so much opportunity across beauty, health, and wellness today, the opportunity for on-going professional development and learning has never been greater. I am excited to partner with the CEW leadership team to build an ever bigger, stronger, more diverse and connected community,” Drell Szyfer said.

The former CEW Achiever Award Honoree has a proven track record in the beauty industry and brings a wealth of expertise in business strategy and growth. Most recently she was the CEO of RéVive Skincare. Prior, she ran Laura Geller Beauty and spent nearly two decades across global beauty giants L’Oréal, Avon, and The Estée Lauder Cos.

As President, she will oversee all areas of the organization, focusing on CEW’s market position and growth. Her strategic acumen and deep understanding of the beauty industry will be instrumental in propelling the organization into the future.

Jacobson said of the news, “Elana’s leadership, empathy, and vision give me enormous hope for what lies ahead. I admire her forward-thinking abilities, and I am honored to work closely with her to continue advancing our organization.”

“CEW has played a pivotal role in my career, connecting me to industry leaders and fostering deep and enduring relationships,” says Drell Szyfer. “It celebrates the accomplishments of women in the industry and champions their careers at all stages with its professional development offerings and vibrant community. What Carlotta and the team have built is iconic and I am honored to continue its legacy.”

One thousand guests gathered Thursday evening, June 5th, for the 2025 Fragrance Foundation Awards at Lincoln Center. The evening celebrated excellence and innovation in fragrance across 19 categories. Industry Legend Ralph Lauren, Executive Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of Ralph Lauren, and Daniela Andrier, Master Perfumer of Givaudan Fine Fragrance, were the recipients of this year’s prestigious Hall of Fame and the Lifetime Achievement Awards. Ralph Lauren’s son David Lauren, Chief Branding and Innovation Officer of the Ralph Lauren Corporation, accepted the award on behalf of Mr. Lauren who was unable to attend.

2025 Fragrance Foundation Hall of Fame Honoree Ralph Lauren.

“This is the fragrance industry’s biggest night. It’s the one night when the fragrance community from the big, bold names to the independent creators come together to celebrate the creativity and craftsmanship of our industry, and the remarkable achievements of the people behind the scents” remarked Linda G. Levy, president of The Fragrance Foundation. “What a celebration it was from tonight’s winners who took home their coveted trophies to our illustrious honorees who have made such an indelible mark on the American fragrance industry.”

David Greenberg, Patrice Louvet, Tyson Beckford, David Lauren and Charles Final de Villaine.

Levy added, “Honoring an American legend such as Ralph Lauren as the Hall of Fame Honoree for his incredible legacy is one of the most memorable moments in TFF USA Awards history. The emotional and creative highs of the evening were heightened to new levels through Daniela Andrier’s mastery of perfumery and storytelling that earned her the Lifetime Achievement Perfumer honor. Presenting these Awards to such esteemed icons of business and prolific perfumers at Lincoln Center only elevates fragrance to the art form that it is as it celebrates the creative artistry and sheer emotion behind them.”

2025 Fragrance Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient Daniela Andrier.

A hallmark of the evening was the signature scent that was created exclusively for the event by Daniela Andrier as a special celebration of the Lifetime Achievement Perfumer. Named Lincoln in June as a fragrant nod to the event and spectacular setting, the fragrance filled the lobby air of the majestic theater with notes of florals as guests arrived. There was exuberance in the air amidst the ambient scent as the fragrance industry mixed and mingled in anticipation of the grand awards ceremony that culminated with the ultimate accolades saluting the very best in fragrances, as well as icons of the industry who have redefined American fragrance.

Oriol Segui, Gilles Andrier, Daniela Andrier, Xavier Renard, Matthieu Befvr, Maurizio Volpi and Felix Mayr-Harting.

Daniela Andrier, Master Perfumer at Givaudan, expressed her gratitude, stating “In my work I find inspiration in the unexpected combination of colours and blending the rare with the ordinary. It is essential to avoid clichés and resist the unnecessary urge to be modern. True depth comes from humility—understanding where we come from, appreciating tradition, and recognizing the significance of culture in our craft. I am deeply passionate about crafting fragrances, and receiving this prestigious recognition from The Fragrance Foundation USA holds significant meaning for me as a perfumer.”

Presenters included Fragrance Foundation Board Chair Jerry Vittoria, Actress, Producer and Advocate Laverne Cox, Fashion Designer Vera Wang, Fashion Innovator Dapper Dan, Allure and Self magazines Editor-in-Chief Jessica Cruel, and iconic brand ambassador Carolyn Murphy and model and actor Tyson Beckford, brand founders Erica Anderson and Ingrid Nilsen of The New Savant, and Jackie Aina of FORVR Mood. Celebrating fragrance at its core was this year’s artistic collaboration with cinematographer Louie Schwartzberg that magnified the essence of ingredients from florals to citrus through AI. This year’s Awards was another exciting edition that celebrated the artistry of perfumes and the artists that create them

The Fragrance Foundation’s annual April Luncheon at Cipriani 42 kicked-off awards season with this year’s finalists and a few 2025 award presentations prior to awards’ night on Thursday, June 5th at Lincoln Center.

This year, the first-ever TFF Leadership Award was presented to Dr. Joyce F. Brown, president of The Fashion Institute of Technology. Dr. Brown has not only been the longest serving president, but the most passionate educator advancing fragrance studies at a public college. Her vision and impact has left such an indelible mark on the industry that it was only fitting for The Fragrance Foundation to honor her legacy.

Dr. Joyce F. Brown is “one of the most transformative leaders in education today,” stated Fragrance Foundation President Linda G. Levy. “She has brought profound and visionary change to FIT’s programs, facilities, and initiatives over the course of her 27-year tenure as president. Her impact in advancing academic programs in fragrance, and bringing generations of talented graduates into the industry cannot be overstated.” Levy traced the long history of collaboration between TFF and FIT—including the landmark creation of the FIT #FragranceForwardTFF Scholarship.

Levy also shared that TFF has donated $27,000, reflective of the FIT President’s 27 years of leadership, to the Dr. Joyce F. Brown Legacy Fund. This ongoing fund will support the creation of a state-of-the-art science laboratory at FIT.

Winners of the first five 2025 Fragrance Foundation Awards were then announced along with finalists for all 19 categories to be awarded on June 5th, as well as the announcement that Daniela Andrier, master perfumer at Givaudan, would be the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Perfumer Honoree, and that Ralph Lauren will receive the 2025 Hall of Fame Award.

ELC Partners With the TUD Dresden University of Technology to Advance Scientific Research at the Intersection of Fragrance and Emotion

As consumer interest in the functional benefits of fragrance continues to accelerate, ELC will explore the role fragrance plays in evoking emotions.

The Estée Lauder Companies has announced a scientific research collaboration with the TUD Dresden University of Technology and their Smell & Taste Clinic, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, and Professor Thomas Hummel, a world-renowned leader in olfactory science, to further advance the company’s commitment to fragrance innovation and cutting-edge scientific research. The multi-year research collaboration aims to explore the neurological connections between fragrance and emotion. Findings from this research will be leveraged by ELC’s scientists and product developers to inform fragrance product and packaging innovation, consumer experiences, marketing claims, and more.

“Scents have long been associated with emotions and have a powerful connection to wellness,” said Sumit Bhasin, Senior Vice President, Corporate Fragrance Research & Development, Product Development and Innovation, ELC. “As consumer interest in the functional benefits of fragrance continues to accelerate, we are thrilled to be the first prestige beauty company to partner with Dr. Hummel and leading academic institution the TUD Dresden University of Technology on neuroscience research that will provide us with deeper insights into how fragrance plays a role in evoking nostalgia.”

This collaborative research spans a number of advanced measurement science approaches that assess the neuropathways associated with scent, psychometric and physiological analyses, brain imaging studies, and more to assess the correlation between scent and emotions. This will build upon existing studies the company has completed on the functional benefits of fragrance. Key learnings will be used at ELC’s R&D facilities worldwide, including its Paris-based Atelier, a new co-creation space opening in early 2025 exclusively focused on fragrance innovation and craftsmanship.

“There is a unique opportunity for academia and industry to partner together to explore the power of scent,” said Dr. Thomas Hummel, M.D., Prof. Dr. med., Interdisciplinary Center Smell and Taste, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, University Hospital Dresden. “We are proud to partner with a fragrance powerhouse like The Estée Lauder Companies with a proven commitment to science and the continuous advancement of innovation.”

Around the world, ELC is dedicated to cutting-edge science with multidisciplinary expertise ranging from basic science and advanced technologies to the intersections of physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering. The company has more than 75 years of formulation authority and is deeply integrated into the scientific community, regularly presenting at leading events and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.

TUD Dresden Univeristy of Technology, as a University of Excellence, is one of the leading and most dynamic research institutions in Germany. With around 8,300 members of staff and around 29,000 students in 17 Faculties, it is one of Europe’s largest technically-oriented universities. Founded in 1828, today it is a globally oriented, regionally anchored top university, developing innovative solutions for the world’s most pressing issues. In research and academic programs, the university unites the natural and engineering sciences with the humanities, social sciences and medicine. This wide range of disciplines is an outstanding feature that facilitates interdisciplinarity and transfer of science to society.

Pratt Institute has announced its Legends 2024, the annual scholarship benefit event that pays tribute to icons of art, design, and architecture. This noteworthy occasion, taking place on Thursday, October 10, serves as a crucial fundraiser for scholarships. Eighty percent of Pratt students rely on financial aid to pursue their educational aspirations, and contributions from events like Legends play a pivotal role in shaping the future of creative talent. This year, three distinguished individuals—award-winning filmmaker Charles Burnett, celebrated architect Toshiko Mori, and internationally renowned packaging designer Marc Rosen ’70—will be honored at Lavan Midtown in Manhattan. The glamorous gala begins at 6 PM with a cocktail reception, followed by a 7 PM dinner and awards ceremony.

Legends 2024 – A Night of Art, Design, and Inspiration

Legends 2024 promises an unforgettable evening filled with inspiring speeches, engaging discussions, and a lively celebration of art, design, and innovation. This event offers a unique chance to connect with fellow cultural institution supporters, network with Pratt alumni, and contribute to empowering the next generation of creative thinkers.

Legends 2024 will celebrate the achievements of these remarkable honorees and raise vital funds to provide scholarships that foster diversity within the Pratt community. Through the Legends scholarship program, Pratt is able to support and foster the inclusion of diverse artists, designers, architects, and creative thinkers.

“We are thrilled to celebrate Legends 2024 and honor the extraordinary contributions of Charles Burnett, Toshiko Mori, and Marc Rosen. Their groundbreaking work in film, architecture, and packaging design has set new standards and inspired countless individuals,” said Pratt President Frances Bronet. “This event not only recognizes their achievements but also raises essential funds to support our students’ education, ensuring the next generation of creative leaders can thrive and make a significant impact in the world.”
