Annual Luncheon & Symposium honored The Quick Family 

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) held its 21st annual Palm Beach Hot Pink Luncheon & Symposium on Tuesday, February 11 at The Breakers, raising $2.6 million and counting for breast cancer research.

The beloved Quick Family was honored with the Evelyn H. Lauder Humanitarian Award for their extraordinary spirit of generosity and unwavering commitment to achieving a world without breast cancer through research. The Award is named in memory of BCRF’s founder and longtime Palm Beach resident, Evelyn H. Lauder, and pays tribute to her tenacity, vision, and passion which continues to drive critical funding for lifesaving research. The afternoon concluded with a captivating fashion presentation by fashion house, Oscar de la Renta.

The Luncheon featured a scientific update by BCRF Founding Scientific Director Larry Norton, MD of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and BCRF Scientific Director Judy Garber, MD, MPH of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. The industry leaders discussed the latest promising research changing the landscape of breast cancer prevention and treatment.

Friends and family joined Estée Lauder’s great-granddaughter, Danielle Lauder, to celebrate the launch of her own makeup collection, ACT IV, in Hollywood on Friday night.

Act IV, is a limited-edition makeup collection created by Danielle and inspired by the beauty of old Hollywood. On October 18th, more than 1,000 guests filled the New York Hilton Midtown to honor eight female executives for their leadership and contributions to the beauty industry at Cosmetic Executive Women’s (CEW) 43rd Annual Achiever Awards Luncheon. This year’s Honorees represent the breadth and range of talents across all disciplines in beauty, including independent founders, retail and marketing.

Finally, Saskia Wilson‑Brown, Executive Director & Founder, The Institute for Art & Olfaction, was honored with the Scent Innovator Award, presented by IFF, for her devotion to experimentation and education in perfumery through film and her community-based nonprofit.

The National Beauty Science Institute hosted its 2nd Annual Master Class at the Pasteur Institute in Paris on September 11th.

This year’s focus was “The Science & Sustainability of Beauty.” The all day event ateended by approximately 600 students and industry professionals included speakers from The Estée Lauder Companies, LVMH, Coty, Johnson & Johnson and Symrise.

The organization was founded by Judy Price, former Editor/Publisher of Avenue magazine, in 2016 to mentor smart, young people, who want to learn about innovation in the beauty and science space. The organization plans to launch a blog called BeautyLabTalk that students and young professionals from around the world will be able to tap into.  It is meant to be a place where scientists can post on a regular basis about discoveries being made in the lab and new products coming out. Students took part in a hack-a-thon in June to help create BeautyLabTalk’s logo.

Among the topics discussed in this master class were epigenetics, mechanobiology, metabolomics, ethnobotany and biomimicry.

Executives from Estée Lauder talked about new frontiers of innovation in the cosmetics industry, while LVMH focused on the cutting edge of natural cosmetics. Coty focused its presentation on pioneering and shaping the future of beauty. Johnson & Johnson presented its Consumer Health division’s holistic sustainability approach. And Symrise revealed its innovation plan designed for virtuous growth in the long term.

During breaks between talks attendees were encouraged to learn more about each company, which had HR managers on hand to meet with aspiring new hires. Symrise invited students and young professionals to submit a sustainable-themed initiative that will result in one or two internship opportunities.

NBSI’s fourth master class is already in the works and set for Sept. 9, 2020 at The Royal Institution of Great Britain, in London.

Limone di Scilia is a luxurious citrus floral blend inspired by Sicily’s sunlight. An artisanal co-distillation of Bergamot, Muguet de Mai with Lemon Primofiore, Italian Mandarin, Egyptian Jasmine, Rose Centifolia, Ambrox and Oak Moss.

As Estée Lauder, herself, once said, “Actresses are the epitome of beauty and glamour…”

And, in January, Danielle Lauder, the actress and great-granddaughter of Estée Lauder, will launch a limited-edition, seven-item makeup collection with the brand. Based in LA, she has named her collection Act IV — a nod to both her heritage as a fourth generation Lauder, and to her acting career.

Dani – as she is known to family and friends, declined to comment further about the line before its launch, but in a statement released by the company, she said “Act IV is a perfect blend of my heritage in beauty and my passion for acting, taking inspiration from my life in Hollywood to provide multifaceted makeup products for every woman to add a touch of glamour to her day.”  We hear the collection will consist of seven products and will launch via select influencer and retailer partnerships.

A graduate of Northwestern University, Dani studied film and theater, and has had starring roles in The Charnel House and The Stanford Prison Experiment. In 2018, she had a role in a short film Estée Lauder produced with global ambassador Karlie Kloss, and just recently starred in a music video called Bubble Gum on Count the Clock.

A mental health advocate, Dani spoke eloquently on the subject at the 2018 Beyond Beauty event for the James E. Marshall Foundation. She is also a supporter of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation founded in 1993 by her grandmother, Evelyn H. Lauder, which has raised more than $500 million for lifesaving research.

The future is bright for this rising star.

Estée Lauder has announced that it has signed Bianca Brandolini d’Adda, French-born international fashion muse, as the brand’s global Re-Nutriv Ambassador. Bianca will feature in a new global digital campaign, “Live a Life of Extraordinary Beauty”, debuting in September.

Bianca Brandolini d’Adda is among the world’s most influential fashion muses. Born into an aristocratic family, Bianca was educated at the Institut du Marais-Charlemagne Polles in Paris and divides her time between her family homes in Venice, Paris and Rio di Janeiro. Bianca is credited for being an inspiration to many designers including Valentino and Giambattista Valli, and has been called one of the most beautiful women in Europe. While living in Rio di Janeiro, she collaborated with the Brazilian brand Osklen to design a swimwear collection and designer shoe brand Sergio Rossi, as well as appeared as an actress in television shows and short films. Bianca has been a friend of the Maison Cartier for a number of years and has featured on the best dressed lists of Vogue and Vanity Fair.

Transporting jet-setters to the distant shores of an idyllic locale, Michael Kors debuts the new fragrance campaign starring international supermodel Gigi Hadid. Launching Summer 2019, the newest Michael Kors Wonderlust creative is a blue-skied, sun-kissed dream brought to life by Gigi as she indulges in the magic of paradise and its endless possibilities.

Michael Kors and Estée Lauder brought an experiential treasure hunt to New York City to celebrate the launch of the newest Michael Kors Wonderlust campaign on July 15th and 16th. Beginning at the Michael Kors Rockefeller Center store, fans were invited to join the adventure by picking up a Michael Kors experience map.

Travelers followed the treasure map to three interactive stops—an in-store photo booth, a special “shellphone” in Rockefeller Center, and a customized, immersive Michael Kors Wonderlust Scent Bar—to discover the fragrance franchise and unlock exciting prizes (including Michael Kors Wonderlust beach bags, towels and deluxe samples, while supplies last).
