Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Baccarat Rouge 540 was created by master perfumer Francis Kurkdjian in 2014 in celebration of the crystal manufacturer’s 250th birthday. Since its release, it has become a worldwide success and a top 10 seller in the U.S.. Maison Francis Kurkdjian was brought to life by co-creators Marc Chaya, CEO and Francis Kurkdjian, artistic director in 2009. Baccarat Rouge 540, with its unique olfactory signature, is a true example of Kurkdjian’s ability to capture lightning in a bottle. As with all Maison Francis Kurkdjian creations, careful and meticulous consideration went into every facet of creating this iconic perfume, from its name to its color, no detail was spared. In a stunning metamorphosis, clear crystal gradually fuses with 24-karat gold powder at 540 degrees celsius and turns bright red: it’s the rouge à l ’or (red made of gold). That is how Baccarat Rouge 540 was born.

Now, ten years since its inception, Baccarat Rouge 540 continues to inspire and demonstrate Francis’ unique ability as a perfumer to transform the world of fragrance. It is one of many within the Maison’s collection that evokes a contemporary vision of the art of creating and wearing perfume.

This year’s event featured a silent auction and cocktails followed by a luncheon and the award ceremony. The Daytime Beauty Awards benefits Helen Woodward Animal Center for their efforts 24/7, 365 days a year rescuing animals of all kinds from natural disasters, providing healthcare and forever homes.

Leslie Mann delivered a wonderful speech presenting Outstanding Achievement in Makeup to Nicki Ledermann, who worked with Mann on “The Other Woman” and more recently designed makeup for “The Irishman” and “Joker.”

Selena Gomez was in attendance to support makeup nominee, Hung Vanngo who won The Nicki Ledermann Makeup Award and her hairstylist, Marissa Marino who took home The Gloria Pasqua Casny Hairstyling Award. Also there to support was Normani for nominee, César DeLeön Ramirêz who won The Stacey Morris Hairstyling Award.

Ice Cube presented Outstanding Achievement in Makeup to longtime friend, Debra Denson who worked on all of his films from “The Barbershop” franchise to “Straight Outta Compton.”

Kelly Clarkson accepted The Jany Temime Styling Award for friend and stylist, Candice Lambert who was the winner of the evening.

Tichina Arnold and Anthony Anderson presented Outstanding Achievement in Hairstyling to barber extraordinaire, Stacey Morris. Nicolas Bijan (House of Bijan) and Megan Pormer presented to “Judy” costume designer, Jany Temime for Outstanding Achievement in Design & Styling. Riawna Capri presented a surprise speech from Johnny Depp for Hairstyling honoree, Gloria Pasqua Casny.

Makeup royalty were in attendance. 7-time Oscar winner, Rick Baker presented. Davis Factor, Smashbox founder and great-grandson of Max Factor presented The Breakthrough Award to Danielle Lauder, actress and the great-granddaughter of Estée Lauder, for her limited-edition makeup collection with Estée Lauder: Act IV. Grey Damon & Danielle Savre of ABC’s “Station 19” presented Fragrance of the Year to MUGLER for Angel. Danyelle Boilard-Paul, Executive Vice-President/ General Manager for Groupe Clarins USA accepted.

NBA Champion, Metta World Peace presented The Gentleman’s Award to the legendary Larry King and Lisa Stanley (K-EARTH 101) and Stephen Nichols presented Morgan Fairchild with The Timeless Beauty Award. Renowned surgeon, Dr. Rady Rahban received The Beauty Enhancement Award.

Grammy-nominated duo Yarbrough & Peoples (Alisa Peoples & Cavin Yarbrough) presented Outstanding Achievement in Photography to Bobby Holland, who photographed the likes of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and more. Other presenters throughout the evening included previous HBA recipients and their star clients: Larry Sims with actress Kiki Layne, Carola Gonzalez with Adria Arjona of the upcoming “Morbius” film and former Photography winner, Jeff Kravitz. 2017 Photography winner, Jennifer Graylock was the official HBA VIP photographer.
