A Visit with Gary Borofsky and Andrea Toney of Dillard’s

This week, we ventured out to Dallas to meet with Gary Borofsky VP/GMM Cosmetics at Dillard’s along with his outstanding team including Andrea Toney and Dana Davis.

We talked about many things including the challenges of brick and mortar retail – which Dillard’s seems to be championing; their history – Borofsky has been with them since 2009; they now have 292 stores in 29 states,; and their future interests, which includes social media and influencers.

What we didn’t expect to hear about were the mirrors Borofsky and his team have invested in to help make their in-store beauty counter experience better for their customers.

“We brought in the simplehuman mirror in as a luxury item in our cosmetic department.

We have made it a culture to use these mirrors during makeup consultations.

Using the mirror has combated the department store lighting.  When matching a foundation, our customers get a true read of which shade will match best in perfect light,” Borofsky told us.

Take a look…

In addition to the amazing lighted Sensor Mirror Trio ($300) which is the ultimate vanity centerpiece, and is like having three mirrors in one: 5x magnification on one side to view your entire face in exceptional detail, with a 1x true view and a 10x window for detail work like applying eyeliner, there is also a lighted Sensor Mirror Compact ($80) so you never need to be without the light you trust. The Tru-lux light system simulates natural sunlight, allowing you to see full color variation, so you’ll know when your makeup is color-correct and flawless. The 3x magnification gives you a hyper-clear view of every detail. A sensor turns light on automatically when taken out of its felt pouch and turns off when put back in. it also has a handy ring handle. Colors: Brushed, black and rose gold.
