in-cosmetics Paris: Symrise presents probiotics-based cosmetic ingredient to protect sensitive skin

  • —  SymRebootTM L19 restores skin’s instinctive defenses
  • —  Defense mechanisms are boosted by probiotics-like action

Symrise presented its first processed probiotics ingredient SymRebootTM L19 at the international cosmetics trade fair in-cosmetics. The cosmetic ingredient has just achieved second place in the BSB Innovation Awards in the category Active Ingredients. The company has developed the product especially for protecting sensitive skin. The industry meets in Paris at the beginning of April at in-cosmetics, one of the most important trade fairs for cosmetic ingredients.

SymRebootTM L19 opens up new horizons for cosmetics manufacturers on skin care products with probiotic-based ingredients. Symrise researchers have succeeded in maintaining the bacterial structure throughout the manufacturing process and thus preserving important benefits for the skin. It takes full effect also in creams and lotions that contain ingredients to protect the product. The skin cells recognize the cell-wall or metabolites of the mildly heat-treated microorganisms, thus activating the skin’s natural defense mechanisms and thereby soothing the skin and strengthening the skin barrier. This makes SymRebootTM L19 the booster of skin’s instinctive defenses. The benefits of SymRebootTM L19 have been tested and substantiated in vivo, and an extensive series of scientifically based in vitro tests was performed.

With SymRebootTM L19, Symrise is bringing an innovation to the market that emerged at the crossroads of two axes of research. One is the development of solutions for sensitive skin and the other is the use of probiotics or probiotics-based ingredients for food, nutritional supplements and cosmetics. In the process, Symrise and Probi are using their perfectly complementary expertise and current scientific findings. “At Symrise, we work with the leading supplier of probiotic ingredients, the Swedish company Probi. At the same time, we are specialists in sensitive skin and its needs. Our processed probiotic SymRebootTM L19 strengthens the barrier function and soothes sensitive skin,” says Imke Meyer, Senior Global Product Manager Actives at Symrise.
